Why paddock enrichment?

Making the paddock more fun for your horse isn’t the only reason to add paddock enrichment. There are more benefits to paddock enrichment. Horses are made to walk large distances everyday while grazing and browsing for food. Domesticated horses rarely come anywhere close the distances wild horses walk, but we can help them walk around more by adding these interesting places in the paddock. You can place haynets at different heights for some passive physio, add healthy snacks to give your horse extra vitamins and you can make obstacles that will challenge your horse physically and mentally.

Cheap paddock enrichment

Most of the materials is available for free or cheap if you know where to look. We walked to a garage the other day and got six tires for free. We also often find free willowbranches for the horses to search for in the paddock and snack on. Paddock enrichment is about being creative and helping your horse enjoy his time in the paddock.
